to the med. professionals, gov. agencies and youtubers: it is (vastly) SAFER AND CHEAPER TO ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION, therefore please "simplify" by stating clearly and without confusing caveats or digressions:

1 – call it a asymptomatic disease i.e. say it plainly you can be infecting people without showing symptoms i.e. you might not be noticing any fever, stuffy nose, muscle pain etc.

2 – the virus can reach 5 feet (1.5 meters) i.e. a 'safe distance' is close to 6.5 feet (2 meters) away from other people not wearing standard protective masks nor protection glasses.

3 – the virus will stay on surfaces for 3 whole days, i. e. assume surfaces are contaminated for 100 hours. Scrub it with water and soap.

4 – say it plainly contagion factor is high and assume FOUR people will get it for each carrier of the disease.

5 – prevention is much preferred to treatment (say that clearly): the disease is brutal and can leave lasting damage and hospitals all over the planet are already understaffed, unequipped and unprepared.

6 – you are infectious for more than a month. Up to five weeks is the time you might be infected (and infecting) from 1st contact to fully get rid of the disease.

7 – testing is timely and costly: don't overburden health services by insisting to be tested i.e. If you have the symptoms assume you have the infection unless you are in a risk group and absolutely need to know to keep others in a risk group safe.

8 – there are two strains of the virus, possibly more (today is 17th March 2020)

9 – a vaccine is at least 1.5 years away and might be not be possible at all if a quicker vaccine makes the infection worse.

10 – the worldwide infection is staying, we are forever changed for years not weeks. The social and economical consequences will last longer. This is a war, and we need more compassion towards each other to win it. Don't wait for you government to start helping your neighbours and endangered people.

DISCLAIMER: the above statements are not fully accurate – and they are not meant to create more panic – but any rounding up or mild exaggeration is aimed at slowing the fast spread of this disease. Yes, there are behavioural implications and associated costs in any innacuracies but not following this is far worse and opens us up to the outliers that will keep it spreading even faster.
