He’s Russia’s longest-serving leader since Soviet dictator Josef Stalin.
And if you are a Russian and you are under 20, you’ve never known another leader.
His critics fear he’s preparing to be ‘president for life’.
The 67 year old has backed a constitutional amendment to reset his presidential term count to zero, allowing him to run in another two elections.
The lower house of parliament passed the legislation on Tuesday.
And Russians are due to have their say in a constitutional referendum next month.
The amendments are the latest in a choreographed process that began in January.
Putin argues staying in power after his term ends will be good for Russia.
But how convinced are his critics?

Este hombre quiere estar en el poder como los Castro y el Cerdo Maduro para dejar seca a toda una nacion, convertirse en el mas millonario y el que tiene mas derechos, asi son los comunistas asquerosos de este mundo. Hay que bajarlos y ponerlos a trabajar limpiando las calles y vean que cuando uno trabaja puede comer, no vivir a expensas de los demás y comprar mansiones que nunca ocupan mientras los mas inocentes viven en la calle. En Rusia la gente vieja tiene una pension de hambre y tienen que sacar la comida de los basureros. Eso lo vi yo en una filmación y tambien por informacion de rusos que conozco, asi es la vida en ese pais, son mas de 70 años y la gente no conoce otra cosa.
