Fast Ruby on Rails 5 Bootstrap Tutorial

This episode is a quick start for setting up Bootstrap 4 in Ruby on Rails 5.1 and later, aimed at people new to web development, or who are new RoR or fullstack framework developers. It also covers setting up simple form and adding a bootstrap navbar to make sure that everything works as intended.

Usually, Bootstrap is an important component of creating your first functional blog. The blog is generally the ruby tutorial that most people consider a hello world program when it comes to rails.

  1. Neither solution helped.

    uninitialized constant Bootstrap::Rails::Application (NameError)
    rails -v
    ruby -v
    ruby 2.6.3p62 (2019-04-16 revision 67580) [x86_64-linux]
    Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS

  2. Great video. This is for RoR version 5, but in the last version of RoR Version 6 the method is very different. I can't understand bootstrap with webpack and my projects don't works. Could you do a tutorial with the last version of RoR, V.6 ?.PLEASE !!!

  3. If all your videos are like this, I'm about to binge your whole channel. This was fucking awesome. Best tutorial style of all time. Thanks dude.

  4. Hey Deanin! Thanks for all these tutorials. You kind of ask for tutorial suggestions at the end of every video, there's 2 that I think the Rails community would be pretty interested in: 1. Push Notifications. 2. Progressive Web App on Rails.

    Granted PWA will be kind of a big topic or possibly very complex. Anyhow, hope to hear from you soon. Cheers and thanks again for all of these videos!

  5. I've been looking for a useful bootstrap/rails tutorial, and have followed step by step through several, with the same result.

    Everything seems find until I refresh local host with the bootstrap navbar inserted. The nav bar ends up just as "brand" with a small square button on the left, which, when clicked, drops down into a completely horizontal menu (no colors, no formatting at all).

    I think somehow the CSS isn't making it to the page.

    Any advice..? (I'm totally new to rails, but have experience in other languages like Java/JSP, Python, PHP etc.)
