We try to shed a bit of light onto the banking system. Why were banks invented, why did they cause the last crisis and are there alternatives?

  4. The modern banking system is called "Lombard Banking" after Lombardy where it began. In many parts of the world pawn brokers are still called Lombards.

  5. Credit union is called "koperasi" in Indonesia.
    And the idea is founded by Muhammad Hatta back in 1945.
